Wine on the Chicago River

My goal for this spring is to experience something new every week. Week one was drinking wine in one of these:

I love Chicagoist.com for many reasons, but right now it’s mostly because it introduced me to the City Winery River Domes.

Basically they set up these big plastic bubbles near the river, give you a bluetooth speaker and board games, serve you wine in an Erlenmeyer flask and food, and let you hang out for an hour and a half.

I halfway forced my friends into doing it with me, and it was just as awesome as it sounds.

Let me get out of the way that this is not a sponsorship, and no one’s paying me to say this (though if they’d like to, I’m down for that). But this was one of the coolest things I’ve done in Chicago thus far. I got to hang out on a beautiful day with good friends drinking good wine in my own little bubble of solitude.

From the service to the food to the cozy socks they offer you when you walk in, everything was phenomenal. At the end, they gave me a bottle of Pinot Noir to take home and a $20 gift card to their other Chicago location. I am sold.

After our 90 minutes, we went and drank cocktails on a rooftop bar. It was the perfect day.

Stay tuned for more spring adventures.
